Geography: Raging Rivers - September 2025

The children recreated the water cycle in a bag, and added the processes evaporation, condensation and precipitation to their diagrams.

Class 4: River Walk - September 2025

Children in Class 4, despite the adverse weather conditions, were able to visit and investigate a local river, looking at the key features and processes, such as erosion.

Class 4: Dams - September 2025

The children discussed the purpose of a dam, looked at physical vs human dams, then created their own dam using natural resources.

Class 3: The UK (Fieldwalking to Hartshead Pike) - October 2025

Our trip up to Hartshead Pike gave the children the chance to explore how our school fits into the wider landscape of Greater Manchester. From the top, they spotted Oldham, Manchester, Ashton and, on a clear day, the Welsh Hills and even Jodrell Bank. A brilliant way to see geography come to life.

Class 2: Fieldwork - January 2026

Walking into Lees. Studying human and physical features of our local area and posting a letter to the Jolly Postman.

Class 2: Journeys to School - January 2026

Our display of the children’s learning and homework about how they journey to school.

Class 2: Litter Pick - February 2026

Litter pick for our Eco topic.

Class 4: Coastal Erosion - April 2026

Children investigated coastal erosion by creating miniature shorelines and testing how waves and currents gradually wear away the land. Through hands-on experiments, they observed how different materials and wave strengths affect the rate of erosion.

Class 3: Journey Japan - May 2026

As part of our geography topic, Journey Japan, the children explored Japan’s landmarks, regions, and physical and human geography. They created fact files to show their understanding of Japan’s unique features, including its landscape, culture and daily life. The children also made comparisons between Japan and the UK, identifying key similarities and differences. Their completed work demonstrates a growing understanding of how geography shapes the way people live in different parts of the world.

Class 2: Cities - May 2026

The children built cities using construction blocks.

Class 3: Lavish London - September 2026

As part of our geography learning, the children explored the school grounds to identify human and physical geographical features. They investigated features created by people, such as buildings, paths, fences and playground equipment, alongside natural features including trees, plants, soil and grass. The children recorded their observations and discussed how they could tell whether each feature was human or physical. A great opportunity to take our geography learning beyond the classroom!
