Welcome to St Agnes CE Primary School

On behalf of our pupils, staff and governors, I am delighted to welcome you to St Agnes CE Primary School.

I feel incredibly proud and privileged to be the Headteacher of St Agnes. Every day, I have the pleasure of working alongside wonderful children, a dedicated and hardworking staff team, supportive governors and fantastic families who all contribute to making our school such a special place.

As we begin the 2026–2027 academic year, we are excited to welcome all our children back to school and to say a particularly warm welcome to our new Reception children and families as they begin their journey with us.

St Agnes is a small, friendly and caring Church of England primary school where every child is known, valued and encouraged to flourish. Our size is one of our strengths: we know our children and families well and work hard to create a happy, safe and nurturing environment where everyone feels that they belong.

Our Christian vision is at the heart of everything we do. We want all our children to:

  • Learn together with respect, patience and kindness.
  • Treat others as they would like to be treated – Matthew 7:12.
  • Flourish in their learning, relationships and friendships.
  • Live life in all its fullness – John 10:10.
  • Be proud of themselves, their achievements and one another.
  • Value equality, ensuring everyone is welcomed, respected and included.

Our 'Great Expectations' provide the foundation for how we learn, behave and care for one another. Our Christian values shape the ethos of our school and help our children develop into confident, compassionate and responsible young people.

We know that children thrive when school and home work together. Our relationships with parents and carers are therefore extremely important to us. We operate an open-door approach and encourage families to talk to us, celebrate successes with us and raise any worries or concerns so that we can work together to support every child.

We are also proud to be part of the Dovestone Learning Partnership, working collaboratively with other local schools. Through this partnership, we share expertise, support one another and create further opportunities for our children, with our shared belief that we are 'Stronger Together for All Pupils'.

St Agnes is very much at the heart of its local community and parish. We value our strong relationships with St Agnes Church, Lees Library, Ashbourne House and other local organisations, providing opportunities for our children to contribute to and learn from the community around them.

As you explore our website, I hope you get a sense of the warmth, ambition and community spirit that make St Agnes such a wonderful place to learn and grow. However, the best way to understand our school is to come and see us – you will always receive a warm welcome at St Agnes.

Here’s to another happy, exciting and successful year for all our children.
